What happens to my face scan after I'm done?
It lives on our servers for 90 days so you can come back to your favorites, then it's automatically deleted. We never sell, share, or feed it to ad networks — and we're B-Corp certified with a 94.7 score, which means an outside auditor checks we actually mean it.
Will it work on my phone?
If your phone was made after 2019 and has a working front camera, yes. That covers the iPhone 11 and newer, plus basically every Android sold in the last five years. You'll need a recent browser — Safari 14+, Chrome 90+, Firefox 88+, or Samsung Internet 14+ — and a quiet, well-lit room helps a lot.
Is the render accurate enough to trust for prescription frames?
Yes — the scan is accurate to within ±1.2mm across the key fitting points (pupil distance, bridge width, temple length). Our optical lab reads those numbers directly from your scan, so the frames that arrive are cut for your face, not a generic average. If anything looks off when your order arrives, our 30-day "Love Them or Lose Them" return covers it — return shipping is on us, even on custom prescription pairs.
Do I need to create an account before I try frames on?
No. You can scan, browse, and heart frames without ever giving us your email. We'll only ask for an address when you're actually ready to check out, and for prescription details when you add lenses — both of which happen on their own pages.
Does this replace an eye exam?
No, and we want to be clear about that. The Try-On helps you pick a frame that fits your face. Your prescription still comes from a licensed optometrist — upload it at checkout or pop into one of the 14 independent opticians we stock across the US, UK and Canada.
What if the scan can't read my face — bad lighting, glasses already on, etc.?
The scanner will tell you on screen if the lighting is too dim or if it can't find a landmark, and walk you through fixing it. Most failed scans are a "face the window" moment away from working. If it really won't cooperate, our customer experience team replies to email in under four hours during business days.
